Convert legacy Asees font text to Raavi Unicode format
ਅਸੀਸ ਫੌਂਟ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਵੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲੋ
Many old Punjabi practice materials are in Asees font (legacy encoding). This converter transforms them into Raavi (Unicode) format which is used in PSSSB and other government typing tests.
Before Unicode became the standard, Punjabi text was typed using various "legacy" fonts like Asees, Joy, DrChatrik, AnmolLipi, and others. Each font used its own character mapping, meaning the same key press would produce different results in different fonts.
Many valuable Punjabi typing practice materials, books, and documents were created using legacy fonts. These resources are still useful but need conversion to work with modern systems and PSSSB exam preparation.
Each Asees key is first mapped to its Unicode Gurmukhi character. The converter then fixes the order: legacy fonts store sihari (ਿ) before its letter and build vowels like ਆ from two pieces, while Unicode puts sihari after the letter and uses a single vowel character.
Note: Legacy fonts differ slightly from each other, so rare symbols may still need a quick manual check after conversion.
Reference table showing how Asees characters map to Raavi Unicode:
PSSSB exams use Unicode (Raavi font) only. You cannot use Asees text directly. However, you can use converted text to create practice materials that work with the exam system.
Complex character combinations, special symbols, or text typed in a different legacy font (not Asees) may not convert correctly. The converter is optimized for standard Asees encoding.
You need to first copy text from the PDF and paste it here. For image-based PDFs, you would need OCR software first. Our converter works with text input only.
There's no hard limit, but for very large texts, conversion may take a moment. For practical purposes, convert in sections of a few paragraphs at a time.
Converted text is ready to paste into Word or any Raavi document. To build exam speed, practice with our timed typing test and PSSSB simulator.
