⚠️ Common Problems & Solutions
❌ Problem: Numbers/Symbols not working
When you press Shift + 1, you get ! instead of ੴ
✅ Solution:
Make sure you've switched to Punjabi keyboard using Win + Space. Check the language indicator in your taskbar—it should show "ਪੰ" or "PA".
❌ Problem: Symbols appear but look wrong
Characters display as boxes (□) or question marks (?)
✅ Solution:
Your application isn't using Raavi font. In MS Word, select text and change font to "Raavi". For PSSSB exam, this is already set correctly.
❌ Problem: Addak (ੱ) not appearing
Backtick key (`) shows ` instead of ੱ
✅ Solution:
Type the consonant first, then press backtick. Example: ਪ then ` makes ਪੱ. The Addak is a modifier that goes above the previous character.
💡 Expert Tips for PSSSB Exam Success
Practice the "Number Row" daily
Most special symbols are on Shift + Number keys. Spend 5 minutes each day typing: ੴ, ੰ, ੲ, ੳ repeatedly until it becomes muscle memory.
Don't confuse Tippi (ੰ) and Bindi (ਂ)
Both indicate nasalization but Tippi (Shift + 2) is far more common in modern Punjabi. PSSSB paragraphs mostly use Tippi.
Learn the "modifier sequence"
Type consonant → modifier → matra. Example: ਪ (pa) + ੱ (addak) + ੋ (hora) = ਪੱੋ. Order matters!
Use our virtual keyboard
When practicing on our typing test, enable the virtual keyboard to see exactly which key produces which symbol.
Focus on accuracy over speed
One wrong symbol = one full mistake in PSSSB scoring. Type slowly at first to ensure correct symbol usage. Speed will come naturally.
